UF Lacrosse Wins Against Jacksonville in Home Debut

After falling 20-8 in its season opener against No. 1 North Carolina, Florida rebounded in its home debut against Jacksonville on Wednesday. Riding a 14-3 lead at halftime, the No. 8 Gators captured their first win of the season by topping the Dolphins 21-5 in the Donald R. Dizney Stadium.

Junior midfielder Shannon Gilroy led UF (1-1) with seven goals, including five in the first half against JU (0-2). The Northport, N.Y., native also recorded two ground balls and a team-leading six draw controls.

Florida is back in action on Saturday at 1 p.m., playing High Point in its second-straight home game.
